Its been a pretty busy week of photography here at Tigz Rice Studios this week as the studio returns to its usual busy state after the Christmas break, starting on Monday with a debut photoshoot for my burlesque alter ego Raven Six. Stepping out from behind the camera in my custom black corset and ostrich feather fans, it was great fun putting myself through the same experience as my clients, although I definitely need a little more practice in front of the mirror before my next photoshoot – there was definitely a little bit of face pulling whilst looking at the RAW files afterwards! You can find one of my new promo images in one of my previous blog posts on the World Burlesque Games and comments are always welcome.
Tuesday was also a busy day with a shoot at Banbury Cross’ ballroom in London for an upcoming feature in a popular vintage magazine (more on this when details are released by the publisher). The pictures are strictly under wraps until the launch of the issue, although I’ve treated you below to one of the images as its possibly showing a little too much nipple for publication in the magazine. How amazing is the lingerie!? It was great to be given the opportunity to reshoot some of the same images that we’d previously worked on in April last year, as my photography has developed quite a lot in the last months. Anyway, Tuesday continued on with a late night pin up session with classically trained dancer and burlesque performer Elle Amour. Elle is a naturally born carbon copy of Audrey Hepburn so you can imagine how well she photographs as a pin up!
Moving onto Wednesday, I popped into London to be interviewed before a feature in a documentary on the London burlesque scene before scooting over to Screenface to spend a small fortune on make up and accessories for Thursday’s shoot with Missy Fatale and MUA Miss Honey Bare. Its always fun having Missy in the studio as she loves to push photography boundaries, including this weeks shoot with her covered head to toe in metallic silver paint, glitter and swarovski crystals as inspired by an Indian goddess. Despite having hoovered the studio several times since, the floor is still severely glittery but it was totally worth it! More on this to come later in the week too – if I can finally choose a final set of images, there’s too many good ones to choose from…
Friday was also a fun day, with a visit to the studio from newbie burlesque performer D’arc Pearl. Graduating at the end of 2011 from Burlesque Baby’s London-based burlesque school, it was great fun getting to know her as a performer and witnessing her natural affinity for the camera. That evening I also popped into Volupte to witness Aurora Galore in her finest baby pink tracksuit performing at House of Burlesque’s REMIX night, fusing hip hop and pop with burlesque. Possibly my favourite part of the night was Chloe Hannah Lloyd’s Slinky Hoop move during one of her routines (skip to the last 30 seconds or so of the linked video to see) – I’ve seen a LOT of hula hooping, but I’ve never seen anything like THAT!
Moving on to Saturday, the gorgeous Coco Du Bois popped into the studio to capture the ‘darker side of Coco’ with lots of backcombed hair and dark make up. We did sneak in some glitz and glamour too, with a beautiful custom made dress and a vintage microphone to swoon into on set. Again, more to come of those this week also – as you can tell, next week will involve a lot of editing!
As for today? This little photographer is having some me time and catching up on my blogging before settling down to a home cooked dinner and a DVD. Its going to be a busy week next week too….
