Delilah Dollbaby
Occupation: Burlesque Performer and Entertainment Coordinator & Artist Manager at Red Right Hand Entertainment
How would your best friend describe you? I actually sent her this question and she sent a list of words! She described me as kind, considerate, humble, resilient, loyal, honest and adventurous!
Who would play Delilah Dollbaby in a movie about your life? This was a really hard one! When I was younger and I had darker hair people would say I looked like Christina Ricci so I’m going to go with her.
Name three things that you always carry with you? Red lipstick, a small first aid kit (stage manager habit with that one!) and my phone
Do you remember how you originally found me? I’ve followed you on social media for years and have always admired your work so it was a dream that one day I would be able to be photographed by you. Then the trip I was planning with my best friend had us in London for a few days.
What inspired you to book an empowerment photoshoot? It was always a dream goal to do a photoshoot with Tigz Rice, and the stars aligned!
Tell us about one of the outfits you wore for your shoot – why do you love it? I found picking outfits a little hard for the photoshoot as I was travelling for 6 weeks so I was limited in suitcase space! One of my looks was a lingerie set. I look at those photos of myself and just think “wow that’s me”. When I shoot in lingerie, I can be very harsh on myself and my body. So having that mindset change for me is why I love that outfit so much.
Describe your photoshoot experience? How did you feel during the session? The whole experience was simply amazing. From getting my hair and makeup done exactly the way I love it to being in front of the camera. I’m not someone who feels comfortable at photoshoots and can get really super awkward with myself. Tigz was so supportive and put me at ease as well as working with me as we tried different poses to see what I could and couldn’t do (it was my first photoshoot since being injured).
Was there a specific moment or pose you particularly loved? One of the photos I’ve picked and is on my social media is actually something we were just playing with and laughing around. Im in a beautiful red dress and its just a simple pose with my hand on a chest of drawers with one leg bent up through the spilt in my dress.
What was it like seeing your images for the very first time? I was still travelling overseas when the proofs arrived and I think I was on a train looking at them for the first time. I couldn’t believe that was me in the photos! I had such a hard time picking the photos, I couldn’t decide! I was a little speechless that it was me in the photos!
How do you plan to use or display your new photos? I’m planning to use them on social media
How has this empowering experience changed the way you feel about yourself? It really help me build my confidence back up and see myself positively. I think we always go up and down with our body confidence and mindset and it’s things like this photoshoot that really help us love ourselves.
What would you say to anyone thinking about booking an empowerment photoshoot of their own with Tigz? Absolutely do it! Don’t think twice! I wish I was in London more regularly so I could book into the Vintage Makeover Photoshoot Days at the different locations – they look like a dream!
What is your top body confidence tip? Always remember that everyone is different and what you see on social media isn’t necessarily real. I think it’s important to remind ourselves that everyone is different and beauty comes in so many different styles. Focus on what you love and love to wear and don’t try to “keep up with the Joneses”. Not everyone’s style and “standard” of outfit/look is the same – that is what makes the world great! The world would be really bland if we were all the same.
Do you have anything else you’d love to say to Tigz? Just thank you! Thank you for being a dream to work with from the moment I contacted you about booking in a photoshoot all the way through the very end of picking the final photos. It was an amazing experience end to end!
What exciting project are you working on right now? Oh there are so many coming up! Through Red Right Hand Entertainment I’ve got the lucky role of booking artists in Sydney, Australia for shows! It is very rewarding to be able to give so many opportunities to so many incredible artists out there! I’m also working on some new acts which I’m really excited about!
