Hello, gorgeous! If like me, you’ve been on a journey of levelling up your body confidence lately and learning to love the skin you’re in, then I’m certain you’re going to fall in love with today’s client superstar: marketing consultant and lingerie blogger Liz – aka Lingerie By Day. On a mission to help you “learn to love yourself, one piece of lace at a time,” Liz booked a Virtual Boudoir Shoot with me to celebrate her purchase of the Daisy collection from luxury UK lingerie brand Edge’o’Beyond.
Liz’s shoot is one that really stands out for me over the past year. Her flawless posing, breathtaking curves and the muted colour scheme of these images makes me feel like Liz could well have been a muse to famous Renaissance masters Boticelli, Raphael or Michelangelo! I can’t tell you how much I loved shooting these and I’m so excited to be able to share them with you, alongside her inspirational words…
Liz King – Lingerie By Day
Occupation: Marketing consultant.
How would your best friend describe you? New Jersey to a T. Stubborn, outspoken, level-headed and loyal.
Name three things that you always carry with you? My commonplace book, keys and phone. I’m a simple human.
What was the last book you read? Battle Ground by Jim Butcher.
Do you remember how you originally found me? I don’t! I imagine it was through some hashtags on Instagram, back when they weren’t blocked…
What inspired you to book a photoshoot? The purchase of the set I wore from Edge’o’Beyond. It deserves profesh love for how gorgeous it is. I’d also booked a few photographers before and wanted to work with Tigz for years and saw this as a perfect chance to do so.
Who would play you in a movie of your life? I feel like maybe a young Julia Roberts. We have similiar big smiles. So – Emma Roberts?
Whats the most interesting thing about you that the internet doesn’t know about you yet? I’m pretty transparent on the internet. My sexuality, most of the places I’ve lived, a lot of places I’ve travelled…hm. Something the internet doesn’t know about me. I was in a pretty toxic co-dependent relationship for 4 years where I was gaslighted into thinking I wasn’t “the other woman”, but I absolutely was. Learned a lot, and now in a much, much healthier relationship with my current partner of nearly 6 years!
Tell us about the lingerie you wore for your Virtual Boudoir Shoot – why do you love it? I’d wanted a set from Edge o Beyond for, literally, years. For me, it’s one of their more unique sets – I love the quasi-ouvert back of the brief, and the mostly all over embroidery. It’s feminine without being girly – and the seductive nature of the sheer or nearly sheer cannot be overstated. While one of the more vunerable positions you can put yourself in, it’s one of the most empowering.
Describe your virtual shoot experience? So I basically exploded my bedroom. I had the tripod and camera/laptop hookup all set up using a random stool from somewhere else in the apartment. The lovely Tigz and her effectively disarming bright pink cat ear headphones and I spent a decent amount of time trying to figure out the remote shooting setup and eventually got…something…figured out. Though if you were to ask me to replicate it, I’d be in trouble. It was in the morning, so I was still a bit sleepy, but woken up as my muscles started cramping from various pointed legs and arms that look so very amazing but take muscular skill to hold that I wasn’t used to flexing. We kept up an amazing banter which kept me smiling and was a really great environment – I’d say we clicked pretty immediately, which was definitely special. It was over too quickly and I look forward to doing it again.
What song gets you on the dancefloor? …as a typical Millenial answer, ‘Get Low’ will get me out and terribly dancing offbeat.
What are you most proud of in your life so far? How grounded my parents raised me. And how aware and unafraid of finances.
What is your top body confidence tip? It’s your skin, once you stop caring about what other people think of it, the more comfortable you feel in it.
What will your autobiography be called? ‘F*ck it: A life of calculated risks and big leaps”
If you could be a model for any brand, which brand would it be and why? I would model for DSTM – I respect their process, how they use materials and their end products are just fab.
What advice would you give to anyone thinking about booking a boudoir shoot of their own? The only regrets you have as you get older will be the opportunities you didn’t take. So do it and remember the moment for what it was and the beautiful body you’re in that allowed you to experience those opportunities, rather than any reflection on any superficial element of you.
What exciting project are you working on right now? I’ve been focusing on my day job and my marketing consulting and…everything else, so I haven’t had much headspace for anything else – but perhaps talking about it will urge me to do it! I’m working on really building up my website – lingeriebyday.com. More reviews, more information, more normalised bodies and skin. There’s such a lack of freely accessible information about some of the most critical foundational garments that propagates into less comfort with bodies in general, which is…not cool. And if I can help in my little corner of the internet, all the better.
