I met Coco Dubois around 3 years ago whilst on a photo shoot at Proud Cabaret and was, at the time, as new to the burlesque scene as I was photographing it! Now a west end superstar and celebrating a successful musical theatre career, it was great to see how both Coco had developed as a performer and model and an absolute pleasure to try out a whole new persona in front of the camera. As we both agreed, it was like shooting a completely different woman on Coco’s part, not only through embracing the darker side of her alter ego, but also through many months of regular shooting with other photographers. On the other hand, by this time I was also in a much more equipped studio with a far greater knowledge of both lighting techniques and editing skills. What a difference a year made!
As well as shooting some more fashion style images, Coco Dubois had managed to get her hands on a vintage style microphone that she’d brought along with her on the day to pose with. Teamed with a stunning black evening dress that showed off absolutely every asset to the max, we experimented with different techniques of ‘singing’ to make sure we got the perfect shot. This has to be one of my overall favourites. Hopefully Coco will make another return to the studio soon!
