Last summer was all about corsets here at Tigz Rice Studios, dominating my private bookings as well as receiving an invitation to join Oxford Conference of Corsetry as a conference photographer.
If you’ve not heard me mention it before, Oxford Conference Of Corsetry is a residential weekend run by Julia Bremble, dedicated to the incredible world of corsetry. Taking place over the August bank holiday weekend each year, the conference is the only one of its kind in the industry and is a respected event in the corsetier’s calendar, drawing delegates from all over the world. Over the weekend, I had the pleasure of working with many talented designers, each bringing their own perspective and creativity to the world of contour fashion.
Each attendee stood out for me in different way. For Sara Huebschen of Exquisitely Waisted, it was the playfulness within her designs, offering a corset covered entirely in dual tone sequins. Worn by model Jess, I loved the versatility of the corset. Manipulating the sequins allowed the wearer to personalise the corset between red and black – or a mixture of the two. With my magpie tendencies I’m sure I’d be completely distracted whilst wearing it!
I also really enjoyed shooting Sara’s black bridal creation on Evie Wolfe, who looked right at home in the Jesus Chapel in an embellished black corseted gown, complete with a gothic inspired headpiece and veil created by Jayne Elizabeth Millinery. Having been made to Evie’s measurements over the pond and without a previous fitting, it really did fit her figure perfectly!
Here are some of the shortlisted images from the shoot. For more work by Sara Huebschen of Exquisitely Waisted, you can find her online portfolio and shop here. You can also find out more about the 2016 conference on the Oxford Conference Of Corsetry website.
