Hotel Pigalle in Gothenburg is one of my favourite places in the entire world – and apparently a lot of you love it too because my Boudoir Makeover Shoots held there with Miss Victory Violet are always the first to sell out! Our last trip over was in October, where I had the pleasure of shooting with Norwegian designer Jana Royale – who, by the way, is the creator of those beautiful jewel encrusted hair barrettes I am wearing in the shoot for my book! I caught up with Jana to find out more about the inspiration behind this dreamy pink boudoir shoot…
Jana Royale
(English pronounciation: Yana)
Occupation: Designer / small business owner at Jana Royale Design
How would your best friend describe you? Creative, funny, determined
Name three things that you always carry with you? Lipglosses, phone & headset
What was the last book you read? I don’t have time for reading but I listen to a lot of audio books while I’m working on my designs.. a minimum of two books in a week. My last book was “The Secret” by Katerina Diamond, but my favourite crime series is by Lars Kepler (yes, a lot of crime thrillers).
What inspired you to book a photoshoot? Of course, the results that I have been seen on IG and the work you [and Miss Victory Violet] do! But for me it was the whole package… two days in Gothenburg, staying at the same hotel and just having lots of fun, from the vintage make over and photoshoot to meeting up with other girls for dinner and drinks.
Who would play you in a movie of your life? Emilia Clarke (because of her role in Last Christmas)
Whats the most interesting thing about you that the internet doesn’t know about you yet? When I was 21 I moved from Trondheim to Oslo with 60€ in my pocket, one backpack and no plan.
Tell us about one of the outfits you wore for your shoot – why do you love it? The pink dress was actually my wedding dress. I found this dress from Australian brand Zimmerman and it was actually ivory, but my dream was always to be a pink bride, so I actually dyed my dress to blush pink – and since it’s 100% silk I had to hand dye it – only few weeks before our wedding too. It was really scary and a lot of work to be sure that the color was even. Later after the wedding I made the dress shorter and dyed it again to more brighter pink, I love that I can use this dress for other occasions.
Describe your shoot experience? I loved it so much! But my favorite part was how Tigz helped me to pose and relax! You and Ella both did an a amazing job!
What song gets you on the dancefloor? Shout by Lulu and the Luvvers
What are you most proud of in your career so far? That I have more and more repeated customers and people around the world buying my designs. That just makes me super happy!
What is your top body confidence tip? Dress to impress
What will your autobiography be called? Keep It Going
If you could be a model for any brand, which brand would it be and why? I love Stop Staring pencil dresses! So Stop Starring or possibly band t shirts – but only for the band’s I like!
What exciting project are you working on right now? I’m working on my summer collection, lots of floral headbands and silk butterflies.
