An Interview With: Emily – Bridal Boudoir

Feb 13, 2019 | Boudoir, Boudoir Interviews, Interviews

I’ve talked a lot on this blog about how the boudoir, pin-up and burlesque communities are awesome; with a handful of my clients over the last decade becoming close friends. Every once in a while though, it’s the other way around, with one of my close friends taking the plunge and stepping into my world of boudoir, lingerie and burlesque photography. One such friend is Emily, who popped in last summer for her bridal boudoir shoot. Emily and I have only known each other for a few years, but yet I also feel like I’ve known her forever. She is an absolute inspiration of a woman and I’m so pleased to be featuring her on the blog today along with some of the images from her shoot…

Emily

Occupation: I’m a Programme Leader for a couple of university degrees and also run my own gymnastics and cheerleading club

How would your best friend describe you? Thoughtful, OCD, Reliable

Name three things that you always carry with you? Phone, Sudafed nasal spray, Credit card.

What was the last book you read? The Sports Gene, David Epstein

Who would play you in a movie of your life? Courtney Cox – I am literally Monica from Friends.

What’s the most interesting thing about you that the internet doesn’t know about you yet?  Erm, I’m not really very interesting, but a fun fact is that I coordinated all the cheerleading during the half time entertainment at the London 2012 Olympics (mainly the handball and basketball events) [Editors note: This is TOTALLY interesting! Also I’ve known Emily for years and didn’t know this about her!]

Tell us about one of the outfits you wore for your shoot – why do you love it? The black sheer bodysuit, shows off my legs and bum really well. I worked hard in the gym to say that!

Describe your shoot experience? It was so much fun, I felt completely relaxed all the way through and wish I could do it again.  I loved my hair and make up and felt like a movie star all day!

What song gets you on the dancefloor? Anything with a dirty baseline or something funky. Mainly UK Garage.

What are you most proud of in your career so far?  Being promoted into a role where I am responsible for the development and progression of teachers. Good and fair education for all is something I am very passionate about!

What is your top body confidence tip? Wear clothes that fit, don’t squeeze into a ‘size’ if the clothes fit you well even if it is a bigger size than you usually wear. It will look great and you will feel great.  Wearing killer heels always makes me feel powerful as well!

What will your autobiography be called? ‘What’s the point if you don’t win?’

If you could be a model for any brand, which brand would it be and why? Any sports brand: Nike, Under Armour, etc.

What advice would you give to anyone thinking about booking a session of their own? Do it!

What exciting project are you working on right now? We’re looking to develop our own purpose built site for our gymnastics and cheerleading club.
