An Interview With: Pinup Miss Rose White

May 8, 2019 | Boudoir, Boudoir Interviews, Interviews

Miss Rose White might already be a familiar face if you follow my social media accounts, having attended my vintage pinup makeover days with Miss Victory Violet at both Fontaine’s and Planet Sputnik. Consistently oozing confidence in front of my camera, I caught up with Miss Rose White to get her top tips for feeling body confident in front of the camera…

Miss Rose White

Occupation: Part time retail worker

How would your best friend describe you? I actually consulted my three best friends for this and they came up with ‘Strong willed, well dressed, supportive, cute as fuck’.

Name three things that you always carry with you? 1. My phone. I can’t be anywhere without my phone. 2. A book. Sometimes purely for the aesthetic of having a book on me honestly, but I do try to read it if I’m travelling on the bus or what not. 3. Lipstick. I constantly have at least 3 lipsticks in my backpack as they get left there from whenever I last wore them.

What was the last book you read? Bad blood by John Carreyrou. It’s about the shady Theranos company that claimed it could do hundreds of blood tests with just a couple of drops of blood from your finger. Sounds like an amazing idea that could change so many lives, but it just didn’t work, and the CEO kept saying that it did and scammed so many high profile investors out of their money. Really, really interesting and easy to follow along. I highly recommend it.

What inspired you to book a photoshoot? I wanted to step up my game as a pin up and I had followed Tigz for a while, as well as Miss Victory Violet, who was doing the hairstyling for the shoot, so I knew I had to be involved. The second shoot I had with Tigz was in the beautiful Planet Sputnik house, and I knew I’d never probably get a chance to be photographed there unless it was with Tigz, so I jumped on board again. I also knew how much fun I had with Tigz last time, so that certainly helped.

Who would play you in a movie of your life? Realistically, Ariel Winter. But I’d love to be played by Zendaya or Lili Reinhart.

What’s the most interesting thing about you that the internet doesn’t know about you yet? That I have prosopagnosia, or facial blindness. First instance I really remember of noticing this was when I was waiting to meet up with a boyfriend, saw a guy who had blonde hair, and nearly ran up to him and kissed him before thinking that it probably wasn’t my boyfriend, which it wasn’t.

Tell us about one of the outfits you wore for your shoot – why do you love it? For my Planet Sputnik shoot, I wore a beautiful yellow and white check dress with a vintage apron, and the added detail of my late grandmother’s engagement ring. When I saw the kitchen set of Planet Sputnik online, I knew I wanted to be the perfect housewife cliche for my pictures, and it came out so well with my hair and dress that matched the kitchen colour scheme. They just look so vibrant in all the photos.

Describe your shoot experience? It was so relaxed, and it truly felt like a group of friends I got to see again to get all dressed up with. And Tigz is such a supportive photographer and constantly knows how to keep your self esteem high no matter how much you might want to question yourself. She’s truly talented.

What song gets you on the dance floor? Anything I can bop about to. I love most things that are in the Top 40, but I also can’t get past a good musical song that I can belt my lungs out too.

What are you most proud of in your career so far? I’m most proud of my self confidence as I’ve grown my Instagram and my willingness to apply for things like model applications and brand rep opportunities. And I feel like I’ve really started to love my body more just by taking the time to take pictures of myself and my outfits and appreciating how beautiful I really am, even during the hard days.

What is your top body confidence tip? Take the time to do something for your appearance that makes you feel good. Mine is taking the time to do my make up or setting my hair overnight, because I know that I’m going to feel so much better about myself personally if every time I glance at myself in the mirror, I always see something I like.

What will your autobiography be called? My Struggles: Life with PoTs, Depression, and Big Boobs

If you could be a model for any brand, which brand would it be and why? I would love to be a brand rep for a make up brand like Besame Cosmetics, as make up is one of my oldest passions.

What advice would you give to anyone thinking about booking a session of their own? Just do it. So many times I thought I’d wait till I lost weight or until I had more followers, but it was such a fun experience that I’m glad I didn’t wait. It did wonders for my self esteem and confidence, and it also was something I did purely for myself. Not for anyone else, just something to make me happy.

What exciting project are you working on right now? I’m currently a brand rep for RexClothiers, which is a feminist design company who sell beautiful t-shirts and scarves and prints! They’re all amazing and I’m so privileged to be able to represent such an amazing woman-owned business.
