An Interview With: Virtual Boudoir Client LaFemmeCat

Nov 4, 2020 | Boudoir, Boudoir Interviews, Interviews, Virtual Boudoir Shoot

You know those shoots when absolutely everything comes together perfectly? Well let me tell you a little story about Nadia AKA LaFemmeCat, who treated me to one of the most gorgeously styled Virtual Boudoir shoots to date a couple of weeks ago! Originally, we had planned to shoot in August, but the Universe was having none of it and so we made the decision to postpone our session for a couple of weeks. It was absolutely worth it though, because it gave Nadia time to move into her new, beautifully semi-furnished home, that provided a gorgeous backdrop for the shoot – as well as bring on board the talents of North Carolina based lingerie designer Pretties by Laura! Featuring incredible hair and make up skills – plus cinematography assistance – from Kaitlyn aka KJS Cosmetology, I’m so excited to show these images off on the blog today as I ask LaFemmeCat about her shoot experience…

LaFemmeCat

Name: LaFemmeCat | Nadia

Occupation: Model, muse, yoga teacher, blogger, baker, farmer (that’s just this year!)

How would your best friend describe you? Endearingly, a wild handful of a fairy

Name three things that you always carry with you? Being a woman without pockets, I can’t say that I typically carry anything. Three things that I could be seen holding would be flowers (or plants of some kind), my terrier Ethl, and (what feels like all the time) laundry.

What was the last book you read? It is hard to find me sitting still, so I listen to audiobooks when on long car rides. In America, everything is so spread out it’s always a long drive. The last book I had the pleasure of listening to was The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett.

What inspired you to book a photoshoot? The opportunity to work with a female photographer. It’s incredible the amount of ease that exists with working with another lady! Even with you all the way in the UK, for our zoom shoot, it felt just as in person as it could have been.

Who would play LaFemmeCat in a movie of your life? Oooo, I really would love for Meryl Streep. She’s the right blend of classy, bold, adventurous, and we both have strong noses and cheeks!

Whats the most interesting thing about you that the internet doesn’t know about you yet? I’ve started a loofa farm! Since I was little I cared for and have respected nature and my place in it. To give back to the planet I am creating a loofa scrub business. This way I can generate a product we need while also replacing a plastic product.

Tell us about one of the outfits you wore for your shoot – why do you love it? To begin, this outfit was a karmic trade and that already makes me love the energy around it. Fit and function, my Pretties by Laura set is some of the most comfortable lingerie in my collection.

Describe your shoot experience? Easy. Through a rescheduling (my fault), and being late (my fault), Tigz was so kind and understanding. I was pretty nervous and intimidated to be working with such a notable photographer, though Tigz really was warm and welcoming. By the end, I wish I could have hopped over for a cup of tea and continued talking. [Tigz note: I would have LOVED that!]

What song gets you on the dancefloor? Almost anything from Shakira would definitely hit me with spontaneous shakes and shimmies, and a fair amount of goofy, on the dance floor.

What are you most proud of in your career so far? I am so proud of the variety of careers I’ve had! I’ve been a zookeeper, baker, arborist, reiki master, rock climbing instructor, model, and artist. What I love most about each one was being a positive energy for the people, or animals I have worked with.

What is your top body confidence tip? Love the flow of change in the body. It can be the cranky bones, the swelling of a belly, or the feeling strong. The body is living and therefore always changing. Honor all the stages.

What will your autobiography be called? My husband and I have joked about this often. Of course, today we can’t remember a single one. We did come up with a very serious “Becoming an Artist, the Nadia story”.

If you could be a model for any brand, which brand would it be and why? Many brands come to mind, and above the name, the ethos of the company matters to me most. A brand that supports mother nature, organic practices, or ethical trade and are green lights for me when considering a brand.

What advice would you give to anyone thinking about booking a session of their own? DO IT! There isn’t a thing you would regret.

What exciting project are you working on right now? I have been establishing relationships with some awesome companies to promote on my website. I want to be able to easily quickly share my favorite brands with my readers.
