I’m sure I’ve mentioned my love of cats on here in the past, so it probably doesn’t surprise you to hear that I ADORE when my client’s pets choose to make a guest appearance in a Virtual Boudoir Shoot – even if it does take a little bribery in the form of Dreamies! When I uploaded these images into my social media folder for #QueenOfSocials Sali to schedule, she audibly squealed at this image of client Katie Barron with her stunning ginger kitty and so I thought I’d post a little feline joy, accompanied by Katie’s beautiful images and thoughtful words, to brighten up your day!
Katie Barron
Occupation: Legal Researcher (J.D.)
How would your best friend describe you? “Tigress and Goddess. Loyal and intelligent. A supportive friend and partner who unapologetically stands up for what she believes in. Home-state historian and my (Callie’s) favorite tour guide.”
Name three things that you always carry with you? Red lipstick, my iPhone and red wine (where appropriate)
What was the last book you read? What Kind of Woman, Kate Baer
Do you remember how you originally found me? Via my beautiful friend, Callie, and her lovely photos with you!
What inspired you to book a virtual boudoir shoot? Lately, I’ve been feeling down about myself. And I’m not altogether sure that it’s just due to COVID. A boudoir shoot was just the thing to remind myself that I’ve still got it, even though I barely change out of shapeless-yet-comfortable clothes nowadays. Dolling myself up feels like a true treat and I’m glad I got a chance to share it with such a wonderful photographer.
Who would play Katie Barron in a movie of your life? My friends say Marilyn Monroe. But not the Marilyn she pretended to be… the Marilyn she really was. The smart, bookish, sexy-yet-sophisticated bombshell they never let her be publicly.
Whats the most interesting thing about you that the internet doesn’t know about you yet? I’m in the process of writing a book! I have a passion for telling the stories of the women who served in the United States during World War II. I’m excited I’ll be able to share my research with the public someday.
Tell us about one of the outfits you wore for your shoot – why do you love it? My red Christmas set from Victoria’s Secret circa 2012. Victoria’s Secret helped me discover my passion for beautiful lingerie. However, it also reminds me of how much I’ve grown and changed as a person since my early twenties and that the definition of “What Is Sexy?” (a slogan from one of their campaigns long ago) changes with you as you grow. And that’s ok!
Describe your shoot experience? My shoot was so fun and lighthearted. The directions for the poses were easy to follow and I only had a little trouble wrangling myself into them. But we got there, eventually! I really loved getting to chat with Tigz and I’m looking forward to doing another shoot… hopefully in person, after all this craziness is over.
What song gets you on the dancefloor? Dancing Queen – ABBA
What are you most proud of in your life so far? Earning my Juris Doctor while going through immense personal, financial and family stress. The period between 2013-2016 was one of the most stressful and exhausting times in my life for many reasons. When I look back I think most days it was sheer force of will (and stubbornness) that got me through from where I was to where I am now. But I’m incredibly proud that I survived and achieved my goal of obtaining my J.D., while maintaining most of my sanity. And now that I’ve earned my degree, no one can take that accomplishment away from me.
