Lady May Den Voyage is an incredible woman.
I can’t remember the exact circumstances of how we came to be friends (I imagine social media had something to do with it!) but it was right back in the early days of my photography career and we bonded over a mutual love for the world of burlesque. During that time, its not only been a privilege to watch her spread her wings as a performer on stage and develop her own sensational blend of Glamazon fierce, but find her place in the London burlesque community as a mentor and role model for new burlesque performers.
Having worked together several times over the years to document her new costumes and create a series of promo images, I was really excited to pull Lady May Den Voyage out of her comfort zone and capture another element of her personality as part of my Art Of Boudoir Masterclass in February. For those of you new to the blog, my Art Of Boudoir Masterclass is a full day dedicated to the world of boudoir photography, covering everything from posing, shooting and post processing to finding your perfect clients. Providing two very different models (the other being Felicity Furore) and a plethora of lingerie, the workshop is fully interactive, offering the chance to take your own images and learn a range of skills to help you add boudoir photography to your repertoire of skills.
Having mostly focused on the powerful nature of Lady May Den Voyage’s stage presence in the past, I love how this series of images portray her in a different light. Still strong, but focusing on her inner strength and the beauty of self confidence.
These are just a few of my favourite images from the day, featuring lingerie from Scantilly, sheer robe from Kiss Me Deadly and customised under bust corset by What Katie Did.
