A Rock N Roll themed boudoir shoot in the Rough Trade room at Hotel Pelirocco…

Hotel Pelirocco has been on my location lust list for years now, so I can’t tell you how excited I was when I found out Trixie Hell had booked into the Rough Trade room for a Rock N Roll boudoir shoot. Jumping in the car with resident hair and make up artist Miss Honey Bare, we set off on a little road trip to Brighton for an afternoon of photography.

Hotel Pelirocco is known as Brighton’s sauciest boutique hotel – inspired by the best of pop’s subculture, maverick musicians and some of the most inspiring individuals – as well the perfect place for your dirty weekend! From a ‘Pin Up Parlour’ room to a ‘Lover’s Lair’ suite, the hotel is everything you could ever ask for as a boudoir photographer. The Rough Trade room on the ground floor is a little piece of history in itself, with floor to ceiling band posters from The Libertines to De La Soul. Whilst Miss Honey Bare was working on Trixie’s hair and make up, I spent a good hour exploring the walls!

Trixie Hell had brought a fantastic collection of Rock N Roll boudoir goodies with her, featuring the Liz and Margaret lingerie sets from  What Katie Did, a leather corset and some fantastic accessories from Prong Jewellery.

The shoot took place in mid October – so by the time we had checked in and were ready to shoot, it was just about sunset. Utilising the hint of light from the window over the bed, this was enhanced by the modelling lamp of my Elichrom ELB400 head and softbox. Although these were originally shot in colour, I love how dark and gritty they look in black and white. The light focuses on Trixie rather than being drawn away by the vivid colours of the posters on the walls. Below you will find a couple of my favourites from the final edited collection.

I love trying new things within the realms of boudoir photography and the Rock n Roll boudoir concept worked perfectly for Trixie Hell. If you’ve got a boudoir concept you’d like to try, get in touch now and we can book you in for your very own boudoir session for 2017. I’m looking forward to hearing from you!
