Well, it’s been two weeks since my last book update and SO much has happened since then. Despite being away in Europe for the past two weeks with poor wifi and working across two very different time zones, the amazing team at Working Class Publishing and I have managed to design, edit, proof and send the final artwork for STRIP/TEASE to the printers! I honestly couldn’t count of the number of hours we’ve put into this book combined over the past year, but after a 6 hours Skype session on Sunday the word ‘final’ made it into the name of the InDesign file as we smashed our very last deadline with a couple of hours to spare.
It felt poetic that the very last photo edited for the book was actually of me, taken with the help of the wonderful Miss Victory Violet. She was adamant that the only photos in the book were to be mine, so after a long day of shooting clients, I was treated to the full Miss Victory Violet hair and makeup experience. I set up my lights and the camera, and this is one of the beautiful images she captured for me. I’m very lucky to have such incredible friends!
One of the most exciting parts of finalising the book artwork was deciding on the cover. After narrowing it down to two options, it had to be one of my favourite shoots of all time, Jolie Papillon and her fans at Fontaine’s. The back cover is still under wraps for now, but here’s a sneak peek at the front. The text on the right will all be embossed with gold!
About STRIP/TEASE
Representing 68 incredible performers from all over the world, STRIP/TEASE includes Miss Exotic World titleholders Frankie Fictitious, INGA, Poison Ivory, Miss Indigo Blue, Immodesty Blaize and Michelle L’amour; alongside current Mr Exotic World titleholder Joshua Dean and burlesque legends Marinka, Judith Stein and Dusty Summers. It also includes a wonderful foreword by none other than international burlesque sensation Dirty Martini!
Within the book’s 144 pages, you’ll find over 50 never-seen-before images that have been shot exclusively for this book, alongside a selection of beautiful images from my archives that represent my favourite moments of my career so far. Giving a voice to the burlesque community, it also includes anecdotes from the performers themselves, telling us what brought them to the stage and why burlesque means so much to them as an art form.
