Town Hall Hotel: Boudoir on Location

A boudoir shoot at Town Hall Hotel with Silly Thanh.

For every boudoir client I work with, I get two lovely surprises. The first is when the client opens their suitcase and presents their own coveted lingerie collection. Not forgetting the designer shoes and sparkly accessories in addition, of course! I know I’ve said it many times before, but this surprise is my favourite part of every shoot. Lingerie is so personal to each client and no two suitcases are ever identical. Although we spend time discussing lingerie beforehand, you never really know what you’ll get to shoot until the day itself.

The second surprise is where the client chooses as the location for their boudoir shoot. Whilst a few clients choose to be photographed in their own boudoir, many opt for hotels, extending their day of pampering to include a night out. When Geneva based burlesque performer Silly Thanh booked a night at Town Hall Hotel for her boudoir shoot, I knew we were going to have a brilliant shoot!

Town Hall Hotel is a brilliant location. It offers plenty of space as well as lots of diffused natural light perfect for boudoir photography. The rooms are more apartment-like rather than a standard hotel, offering a separate living area. Miss Honey Bare started hair and make up whilst I prepared one of my Elinchrom soft boxes to use as a reflector. I had my ELB 400’s with me as usual, but with so much natural light available in the room, it would have been rude not to utilise it! I rarely shoot against white walls, however I loved how they reflected the natural hues of the room.

Silly Thanh and I shot four looks in total, making the most of the fantastic space. My favourite set from the day was this black lace ensemble from Silly Thanh’s personal collection. A huge thank you to Silly Thanh for letting me share a few images here. You can find more of the images from our Town Hall Hotel shoot on her Instagram also.
