Happy New Year lovelies! It is my first full week back in the studio after the festive break – and I’ve finally had a chance to sit down and start processing how amazing 2018 was. It went by in such a whirlwind of excitement that I didn’t get a chance to celebrate my ninth business birthday as per tradition, or even announce something so exciting I keep pinching myself to check that its real: I’m publishing a book!

If you follow me on Instagram then you may have caught a very excited live video back in December where in a slightly overwhelmed and emotional state I mentioned this, but now that its starting to sink in a little, here’s a little more info! At the beginning of last year, I began talks with a wonderful independent publishing house, Working Class Publishing. Based in Wisconsin, USA, they specialise in publishing high quality, innovative titles and have worked with some of my favourite photographers in the pin up and boudoir niche, including Lars Kommienezuspadt, Claire Seville and Shannon Brooke. Honestly, I can’t tell you how excited I am to be joining such a line up of talent! We signed the official contracts at the end of October and things have been quietly progressing since as I’m coming to terms with the fact that one of my biggest career goals is actually coming true!

As yet, the book is untitled, but it will be focusing on my work within the burlesque community over the past decade, from those early days at Proud Cabaret – when I was finding my feet as a photographer – to my most recent burlesque-apades with notable performers throughout the international burlesque scene. There will be some throwbacks to my proudest moments of my career, alongside some never seen before images too. And the release date? Nothing set in stone as yet, but if all goes to plan it will be launched around the time of my 10th business birthday (Christmas 2019), so keep an eye out for announcements and make sure you’re on the mailing list to get your hands on a copy first when the release date is announced!

In the meantime, if there are any international burlesque performers making 2019 travel plans to Europe/UK before the end of June 2019 and would be interested in shooting with me for my ’10 years of burlesque book’ project, please get in touch. I’d especially love to have a few more performers representing the USA burlesque community!

UPDATE: MONDAY 1ST APRIL

There’s nothing like a deadline to make time appear to be ticking by faster is there!? With the end of 2018 fully booked well in advance, there wasn’t a huge amount of time to get cracking on all things burlesque book related, so I made sure I started 2019 with renewed energy and a clear focus on making the book a priority. In the last three months, I’ve popped into the inboxes of over fifty of the world’s top burlesque performers, either requesting model releases from past shoots that have been career defining moments for me or collaborations for brand new shoots to bring you brand new, never seen before content that represents the beauty and diversity of our global burlesque community.

I have to say, I’ve been completely overwhelmed with the unwavering support shown to me by everyone I’ve been in contact with. From the encouraging words and well wishes, to making personalised introductions and sharing my project within their communities, I’ve been reduced to happy tears on too many occasions to count! My gratitude levels are off the charts right now and it serves as another beautiful reminder of why I love the burlesque community so much.

Banbury Cross, c.2012

In the past month, I’ve had the opportunity to reconnect with the beautiful Banbury Cross, who was one of the very first performers I ever photographed in my Proud City days! I’ve also had the opportunity to photograph two wonderful UK based performers I’ve always wanted to work with: Lilly Snatchdragon and Lolo Brow. I’ve also got 9 more confirmed shoots between now and the end of June – a lot of this new content will be kept under wraps until the images are published in the book, so don’t forget to sign up for Stockings & Striptease, my monthly inspiration email, to see sneak peeks and interviews with some of the wonderful burlesque performers who will be appearing in my ’10 years of burlesque book’!

And finally, a quick reminder that if there are any international burlesque performers making 2019 travel plans to the UK before the end of June 2019 and would be interested in shooting with me for the book, please get in touch. I’d especially love to have a few more performers representing the USA burlesque community!
