Hello gorgeous! Remember a couple of months back when I posted about photographing Dita Von Teese’s Glamonatrix burlesque show in Brighton? Well, this month Dita’s Glamonatrix Tour 2023 went on sale for the US leg of the tour and it reminded me that a little something extra that happened that day that I’ve been keeping under my hat for a while. That’s right, individual shoots with almost every member of the Glamonatrix cast!
As I’ve mentioned in my last post about the Glamonatrix Tour, it had been a pretty wild ride up until this moment, as the plan was to originally photograph the Glamonatrix tour in London a month before. A forever fan of Dirty Martini – not to mention she wrote the foreword to my book STRIP/TEASE – we’d had a burlesque inspired photoshoot booked in to take place at my second home, the decadent Fontaine’s Bar in London, but it was not meant to be, When my plans were rescheduled, we decided to see if there was a way we could make the shoot work in Brighton instead.
Very gratefully, the staff at Brighton Dome were all for it happening too! And, as the entire cast was backstage before the show, having just got back from an afternoon tour of the Royal Pavillion before the evening’s burlesque show, Dirty was keen to share the love with the whole Glamonatrix cast for the opportunity to create something truly epic.
It also helped that each member of the cast had very recently been gifted an epic new robe from Catherine D’lish (aka Boudoir By D’lish) and some gorgeous new bespoke pasties by Primp My Costume, so finding something to wear was no problem at all!
Making use of the theatre itself as well as the grand staircase in the entrace hall, we shot together for a couple of hours, making the most of being in such a decadent space. We also captured a couple of photographs for legendary fashion illustrator David Downton to promote his charity t-shirt range to raise money for Ukraine.
I had such brilliant time creating these images with Dirty Martini, Jett Adore, Tosca, Laszlo Major, Lana Kai Fox and Alek Palinski (as well as Prince Julio, who is not shown here but does appear in the David Downton shoot). I owe a massive thank you to the Universe for switching around my plans and making this a much more epic day than we had planned in London!
It’s a little too far for me to travel to the US to see Dita’s Glamonatrix show again, but I’m so excited for all of my US friends that have managed to get tickets to see the show in their states and I can’t wait to see pictures of you all in your sparkly outfits. Dita’s fans really do know how to dress for the occasion!
