There are so many aspects of burlesque that I love, but something that really grabs my attention is epic floor work. With 10 years of photographing burlesque performers under my belt, I’ve built up a pretty extensive repertoire of poses. However, my recent shoot with Minneapolis based burlesque performer Nadi A’marena taught even me a thing or two about what’s possible with the human body, as they threw floor pose after floor pose in front of my camera lens. Describe your burlesque persona in exactly 5 words: Femme Daddy, Sleaze, Evocative, Multi-faceted
Tell us about your best ever burlesque moment. What happened? Who was there? I got a standing ovation after completing my Gollum number. It was at the Crescent City Burlesque Weekender, and I had never gotten a standing ovation before. I love when people celebrate the weird shit I do 🙂
Name three things that you always carry with you. 1. Lipstick. 2. An extra thong 3. Altoids
What inspired your burlesque journey? Following the original cast of Black Hearts Burlesque (shoutout to Dahlia Dulce and Elektra Cute)
Who would play you in a movie of your life? Kate McKinnon
What’s the most interesting thing about you that the internet doesn’t know about you yet? 5-10 year goal: I want to sell my house, buy an RV, travel all around the United States with my spouse and two dogs, and perform everywhere
Tell us about your shoot experience with Tigz! She was great at communicating and focused on subtle details which is so important. She has a creative and talented eye for capturing the best photo.
What song gets you on the dancefloor? Anything by Rihanna
Best achievement or moment that you’re most proud of in your career? I started my own business: Siren & Ice Rhinestoning Services. It had been a goal of mine to bring my rhinestoning art to other folks, and I made it happen!
What is your top striptease tip? Slow.Down.and.Breathe.
If you could be a model for any brand, which brand would it be and why? Atelier Bordelle. It’s the most striking and detailed lingerie. If I could, I would buy every piece of theirs.
What will your autobiography be called? Well That Happened: The Art of Messing Up Glamorously
What exciting project are you working on right now? I have been updating the costume on one of my favorite acts. It’s been so tedious/time consuming, but I am so proud of the results so far. I can’t wait to wear it on stage!
Favourite burlesque festival/show to perform at? Hands down, the Minneapolis Burlesque Festival
Most inspirational/memorable performer you’ve seen? Poison Ivory and Medianoche (I can’t just choose one)
