The London burlesque and cabaret scene got a little bit sparklier this month, as eleven recent graduates of The Cheek Of It Burlesque School showcased brand new acts at Battersea Barge. Having just completed their Sensational Showgirl Super Advanced course, taught by Cheek Of It compare Toni Galore, I was invited along to photograph the event in all it’s rhinestoned glory!
I have been photographing The Cheek Of It’s graduation shows for several years now and always leave feeling inspired. What I love most about their courses is that they promote creativity and innovation, cultivating a new breed of burlesque performers that span the full spectrum of the London burlesque and cabaret communities. This show was no exception, showcasing a range of talents from singing, dancing, live magic and belly dancing. Featuring Rara Avis, Chelsea Orient, Miss Belle De Coco Noire, Irena Addled and Fox Fontayne, here are some of my favourite images from the Goddesses are Go! show…
Ps, if you’ve been thinking of taking burlesque lessons, I thoroughly recommend The Cheek Of It – who have produced some of the top names in the London and international burlesque scene. Check out their website for more information on classes, workshops and special events.
