When I first started out in photography a couple of years ago, Marnie was one of the first professional models who invested her time into helping me develop my portfolio and therefore its always a pleasure to have her back in the studio again – especially because her outfits are always a surprise until they come out of that suitcase! Last summer we worked on a series that was affectionately entitled Black Vs White, which turned out to be a well loved series of images. Therefore last month, we decided to get back into the studio together and work on a White Vs Black response shoot inspired by Miss Havisham, which would compliment the first series. Turning up on Saturday morning with a suitcase full of goodies, I set up the studio whilst Marnie got ready – with a simple one light Bowen’s 500 head with beauty dish attachment and black backdrop. Starting off in a pair of latex flared trousers and suspenders, with white tape covering her modesty and an army style cap, the shoot began to the epic soundtrack of Nero’s latest album. Not bad for a Saturday morning! Marnie’s next outfit change paired the flares with a white latex corset and raw silk tailcoat from Renaissance Couture (images have not been curated in chronological order by the way) teamed with a Scarlet Diva latex cowboy hat with feather trimming. What I love most about these images is the attitude Marnie exudes in front of the camera. However, my favourite look for the day was a white latex dress teamed with the white corset and layer upon layer of white lace and netting, teamed with a white wigs and a hairpiece made of black fabric flowers. I affectionately refer to this look as the Miss Havisham look – and what I loved most about it was a sense of a softer emotion that I’ve never seen in Marnie’s poses before. Perhaps its all that pure white latex rubbing off on her!
