The Oxford Conference of Corsetry is a dream to photograph for a lingerie lover like me. A conference run by corsetieres for corsetieres, the event is truly one of a kind with makers, enthusiasts and designers travelling from all over the world to attend a weekend full of workshops, friendly networking, talks & photoshoots, with models to showcase corsets brought to the conference. It’s a great pleasure to be invited to be a conference photographer in events in 2015 and 2017 and to have been invited there again this year.
As a part of the conference, the designer’s book in for a photoshoot with invited photographers, along with some of the leading models from the industry, to show off their works of art. Working with around 10-15 designers in a day – and in and the stunning surroundings of Jesus College at Oxford University – we work to create images that shine the best light on some truly unique pieces from world-renowned designs who make the pilgrimage from all corners of the world to attend.
It’s no surprise to you that I love photographing lingerie and corsets, as I photograph for The Underpinnings Museum; an online museum dedicated to historical lingerie and corsets, with some pieces dating back to the 1700s. Seeing the detail in stitching, beading or embellishments to a corset is wonderful as well as the shape each creates when worn. What a way to indulge my love of all thing’s lingerie!
I’ll be updating with new images from Oxford Conference of Corsetry 2019 soon. It was a wonderful event yet again – and such a dream to see such incredible handcrafted corsetry up close. But for now, here’s a selection of images from previous years to whet your appetite!
Thinking about your brand’s next lookbook, editorial, campaign or brand shoot? Let’s work together to photograph your collection and show it in the best – and most beautiful – light.
