An Interview With: Pregnancy Boudoir Client Bea

Jan 27, 2021 | Boudoir, Boudoir Interviews, Interviews

It’s always a privilege when, as a photographer, you are invited in to a friend’s private bubble to celebrate a life milestone with them. Whether it’s a wedding, a birthday, a life changing surgery or a pregnancy, these kinds of shoots always create beautiful memories, and Bea’s pregnancy boudoir shoot was no exception. Spending the afternoon at her beautiful home in Hertfordshire, I caught up with Bea post boudoir shoot to find out more about her maternity shoot experience, as well as any advice for other expecting parents that might be thinking about booking a shoot of their own…

Bea

Occupation: Admissions Administrator is my main job. I am a trained Hairdresser and still do some styling for friends and family. I was going to start pursuing my love for makeup and become a MUA this year until Corona happened and I got pregnant – so this is on hold for now..

How would your best friend describe you? Feedback from my friends were: Kind, thoughtful and fun.

Name three things that you always carry with you? Anti bac Hand gel, Tissues, phone.

What was the last book you read? The Positive Birth Book.

Do you remember how you originally found me? I met Tigz through our mutual friend Emily. We went to Ibiza in 2019 and the rest is history. Plus I’m obsessed with her Instagram pics and profile.

What inspired you to book a maternity boudoir photoshoot? I wanted to have some photos to remember this journey, experience and how I looked and felt at the time carrying my baby boy. It will be lovely to look back on them.

Who would play you in a movie of your life? Probably Jennifer Anniston because I love her!

Whats the most interesting thing about you that the internet doesn’t know about you yet? Oh gosh- I’m really not very interesting lol. Here’s a fact about me- my nickname Bea comes from my older brother always saying B for Baby when I was born. Everyone knows me as Bea now and either thinks my real name is Beatrice or Bianca but its actually Rebecca.

Tell us about one of the outfits you wore for your shoot – why do you love it? My fav photos are the lace dress ones. Would you believe this dress is from eBay! It was a really nice quality lace, colour and really fitted with the overall look I wanted to achieve with my bump. You cant really see them but my shoes were amazing from Pretty Little Thing.

Describe your maternity boudoir shoot experience? I had such a fun day with Tigz. I booked the day off work and had a lovely morning doing my hair and makeup, not being in a rush like I usually am so I felt glamorous, relaxed and ready. When Tigz arrived I showed her some ideas/outfits I had and she directed me the whole way through. She was so professional, patient and helped me with outfit changes etc as mumma couldn’t bend down to put the heels on haha. It’s incredible that she just knows how to position you to get such great shots and your best angles. To be honest, putting on weight being pregnant has been hard for me. Obviously, I know I’m growing a baby, but I’ve always liked to control what I weigh etc and have always been self-conscious about my weight and looks. Strangely, this is probably the biggest I have been but the most confident. I’ve had a change of heart as I know my body is doing something incredible and it’s made me realise there are just way more important things in life and I love the photos of my big bump and bigger curves. Even from being on holiday with Tigz last year in Ibiza, the confidence and girl power she has herself really empowers and rubs off on you. I know all the girls from that holiday were probably the happiest and most confident we ever have been in our lives. So, overall, it was such a great experience and I loved every second. Thank you Tigz!

What song gets you on the dancefloor? Probably Luther Vandross ‘Never too much’. It was our wedding song and has such a feel good vibe. Or anything 80s, R&B or garage.

What are you most proud of in your life so far? I haven’t had him yet but I guess it will be giving birth to my son that I have enjoyed growing for the past 9 months. Also getting married is up there, having a lovely home and training my gorgeous puppy Hugo into the most perfect dog.

What is your top body confidence tip? I think putting on a pair of killer heels always makes me feel instantly more feminine and glamourous- plus for me…a full face of makeup, eyelashes and big hair!

What will your autobiography be called? Learning to love yourself

If you could be a model for any brand, which brand would it be and why? Hmm, probably a hair or make up brand like Kérastase Hair because I love having long hair and could fling it around like they do in the adverts lol, or MAC or Huda Beauty as I’m obsessed with their makeup products.

What advice would you give to anyone thinking about booking a maternity boudoir shoot of their own? Do it! 100%. I’ve had so many positive comments and compliments since posting my photos which has been a real confidence boost. I’m so glad I have these photographs to cherish forever.

These are such beautiful photographs! Absolutely stunning. My late husband would have adored to have had me photographed when I was expecting (it was over 30 years ago) – he loved the curves.
