An Interview with Scarlett Luxe

Feb 16, 2018

Over the past eight years, I’ve had the privilege of photographing some seriously badass women, consistently breaking out of their comfort zones and continuing to inspire me every day. A good handful of these women have made it to the blog, but towards the end of last year, it suddenly dawned on me that you always hear the story from my ‘behind the camera’ perspective. Which is great for the photographers out there, but I’m pretty sure some of you would love to know about the experience on the other side of my camera too! So for 2018, I thought I’d mix things up a bit and give a voice to some of these incredible women. Introducing the “An Interview With” series, I’m so happy to welcome model Scarlett Luxe to the blog today as our inaugural guest…

Occupation: Model & Boutique Manager at Deadly is the Female

How would your best friend describe you? Crazy busy but determined!

Name three things that you always carry with you? Red lipstick, my phone and my Filofax!

What inspired you to book a photoshoot? I fell in love with the photo’s Tigz shot of Immodesty Blaze, I wanted to look that fierce and fabulous and I knew Tigz could help achieve that!

Who would play you in a movie of your life? I’d love Anna Kendrick because she can sing and dance, the movie would be like an Old Hollywood Musical! Although she may need to build up some curves….!

Whats the most interesting thing about you that the internet doesn’t know about you yet? I’ve studied dance for over 15 years but I’ve never shared any pictures or videos of me actually dancing….

Tell us about one of the outfits you wore for your shoot – why do you love it? The swing dress I wore was an utter dream buy. I found it on Ebay for £30 (a steal!), it was exactly my size, a beautiful silk floral fabric and it arrived just in time for me to wear for my birthday! It makes me feel like I’ve stepped straight out of the 50’s.

What song gets you on the dancefloor? I adore cheesey music so anything from Spice Girls, Steps, S Club 7 and Shania Twain!

What are you most proud of in your career so far? In 2015 I won ‘Best Pinup Model’ at the National Vintage Awards the same day I graduated from University, incredibly overwhelming but I was so proud of what I had accomplished.

What is your top body confidence tip? Look at yourself in the mirror every day and give yourself a compliment. Why shouldn’t you tell yourself that you are fabulous or you have a good butt?!

What will your autobiography be called? The Luxe Life…..

If you could be a model for any brand, which brand would it be and why? I have worked with and will be working with this year, so many wonderful brands and designers that I am truly grateful for and they have all been an absolute dream come true. I would LOVE to model for Vixen by Micheline Pitt. Micheline’s designs just keep getting better and better and as a designer, Micheline truly listens to what the customers want….pockets!

What exciting project are you working on right now? I’m looking forward to shooting with some amazing photographers in the next couple of months… and hopefully Tigz again!
