Best Bits: Bridal Corsetry & Bucket Lists

Sep 6, 2017

Well August went by in a blur didn’t it?! As you may already know, we moved house at the beginning of the month, which turned out to be a much bigger project than expected. Having always lived in rented flats of brand new builds, I think it caught me by surprise how much there would be to do, even on a 5 year old property. Between IKEA trips, laying three entire floors of wood laminate, installing a new bathroom and setting up my brand new studio, here’s a few little snippets of what I’ve been yp to behind the scenes…

Technically I don’t really have an image of the month as I’ve been out of the studio for most of the month, but here’s a sneak peek of something I’ve been working on in the last couple of days with designer Elisabeth Armstrong, along with models Liv Free and Evie Wolfe. I’ve always wanted to shoot bridal couture corsetry so this was a bucket list moment for me! Make sure you check out all three of these incredibly talented women. The rest of the collection will be out soon and I absolutely cannot wait to share it with you!

The best thing I’ve seen on the internet this month has to be Miss Tosh’s unicorn! I had the pleasure of working with Miss Tosh at Oxford Conference of Corsetry over the bank holiday weekend and later went on to discover she has a giant spinning unicorn she performs with in her live shows! You can see a preview of her act here.

Speaking of Oxford Conference of Corsetry, you may also have seen a few cheeky behind the scenes images and videos on my Instagram from the last conference. Over the weekend I had the pleasure of doing a day’s shooting with The Underpinnings Museum, as well as twelve editorial style shoots with some of the corset designers that attended the conference. I’ll be working on these over the next few weeks, so should have something to share with you in the next month or so.

This month it was an absolute pleasure to be invited back to the Beck Theatre to photograph their summer youth project, Sister Act. I’ve been photographing shows at the Beck for several years now and I’m always blown away by the talent of these young performers. Also, how incredible is the stage design?!

Other best bits that made me smile this month: Successfully negotiating the sale of our flat • Attending the Voodoo Vixen x Miss Victory Violet launch • Attending the wedding of our wonderful friend Fi • Spending time working on our wedding stationary with Mum • Joining a new gym • Shooting with Jessabelle Thunder
