An Interview With: Model and Producer Wilhelmina af Fera

Aug 8, 2018 | Boudoir Interviews, Interviews, Lingerie

Model Wilhelmina af Fera has been taking social media by storm recently, having recently modelled for well known vintage inspired lingerie brand What Katie Did, as well as a stunning set of images to promote the new Splendette jewellery range (of which I want the entire collection, goodbye bank balance!). I recently had the pleasure of shooting with Wilhelmina af Fera whilst she was over on a visit to the UK, and she was kind enough to agree to be featured on my blog in the below interview…

Wilhelmina af Fera

Occupation: Model & Producer

How would your best friend describe you? Workaholic “maniac”, who loves vintage and good historical books.

Name three things that you always carry with you? Red lipstick, tissues (allergic summer life….) & a mirror.

What inspired you to book a photoshoot? I had always adored Tigz’s style and all the beautiful moments she had captured so I just had to get a shoot with her!

Who would play you in a movie of your life? Catherine Zeta-Jones, pleeease! Her Velma Kelly is so good!

Whats the most interesting thing about you that the internet doesn’t know about you yet? I have been quite open so I don’t actually know if there is such! Some people must have spotted my tattoos and where they are from, but the truth is that I am a huuuuge Lord of the Rings fan and when I was still at elementary school I used to write my school notes in Tengwar runes!

You were recently crowned 1st Runner Up in the Miss Viva Las Vegas Pinup contest – congratulations! Can you tell us more about the contest? Oh, thank you! I loved to be up on the stage with all the gorgeour ladies and I ADORE our queen, Fran! We got to spend some time together before the contest and I totally fell in love with her! The contest itself was quite a scary experience, especially for someone like me who’s afraid of public speaking. Few days earlier when I was watching the premier of Bombshells & Dollies the pin-up documentary about the contest I was sure I couldn’t go up to the stage. Sitting on my chair watching the documentary my knees started shaking and I had troubles breathing. My new awesome Canadian friends helped me through the panic attack and at the Friday’s meet & greet I was still unsure about if I could do it and felt like I was cheating by being there with the other finalists. But I guess I must have made it to the stage, I cannot say as I don’t remember that much!

Tell us about one of the outfits you wore for your shoot – Who made it? Why do you love it? What Katie Did! WKD makes my favourite retro style lingerie. I love that they have authentic vintage feel to their products and the pieces are true eye-candy but also made for everyday use. And WKD sure is something I do wear everyday!

What song gets you on the dancefloor? When I’m not stripping (burlesque is what I do every now and then) nothing gets me to the dancefloor. I have been there once, but that was in Majorca and I must have been awfully drunk, woopsie!

What are you most proud of in your career so far? Probably being able to work with major brands like What Katie Did and Splendette while living here at the edge of the world. I know if lived in UK career building would be much easier but at the moment I’m not ready to leave Finland. Maybe someday!

What is your top body confidence tip? Red lipstick & pretty lingerie. Always makes a girl feel a bit better!

What will your autobiography be called? Probably something like “Cortisol & glam”

If you could be a model for any brand, which brand would it be and why? I would loooove to model for the Queen of all the glamour’s, Dita Von Teese’s Von Follies collection. But hey, that’s quite obvious! 😉 But also would love to work with amazing designers like Austrian genious Lena Hocshek!

What exciting project are you working on right now? Actually I am producing the biggest pin-up contest in Finland, Pin-Up Finland and at the moment I am putting together the photoshoot. One thing making me nervous is that I will be shooting some of the photos myself! I have played with camera every since I was at junior high school but haven’t done that much commercial photography, but hey, here we go!
