Love nylon stockings? Me too! I have an entire drawer of them at home in all different styles and colours that I’ve collected over the years! As today is Nylon Stockings Day, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to share with you some of my favourite stocking brands. And for those of you who love the aesthetic but prefer something a little more full-legged, I’ve even included some illusion hosiery too…

What Katie Did: My personal favourite stockings brand! Available in a range of sumptuous fab colours, they also currently offer three nude shades to suit different skin tones. Their fully-fashioned stockings are authentically made on vintage Reading machines and each pair is finished by hand, so you can imagine the level of craft put into each pair. I often recommend these as top up gifts for the vintage fashion lover in your life.

Except Georgina isn’t the only one who speaks highly of Big Tights, Sali (my social media queen) is a massive fan too! Stocking sizes from UK8 up to 42, their range is the most size inclusive. They also have great anti-chafing shorts, suspender belts and a range of tights.

Secrets in Lace: The Dita Von Teese collection from Secrets in Lace is divine. If it’s good enough for Dita…! With 35 years in the business, Secrets in Lace have been around for a long while and truly refined their designs and making practices. Wolford: Wolford is high-end textiles and lingerie designers based in Europe, specialising in tights, bodysuits and underwear. Working with high end designers such as Vivienne Westwood shows their brand is ever continuing to push boundaries and be inclusive. They are one of the only hosiery brands I’ve found to create tights and leggings for the male physique.

Agent Provocateur: The “Tease Me” hold ups are divine. They are sheer and champagne-hued with a contrasting black welt and reinforced toe. The black contrasting seam down the back of the leg features cursive writing with a hidden message… super sexy lingerie!

Uye Surana: These pink flowery stockings from Uye Surana are exquisite. Inspired by their creator having put fresh flowers under sheer clothing, I lent my pair to FFFB for a shoot. House of Holland For Pretty Polly : Looking for illusion tights instead? I love the designs from the House of Holland for Pretty Polly, especially the super suspender tights. Could’ve done with some of these over the winter!

Leg Avenue: They have some of the most creative leggings, stockings and tights I’ve seen! I particularly love the mermaid leggings, and the stockings with garters look like they’d stay up while dancing the night away.

Kix’ies: I’d not heard of Kix’ies until Georgina brought some to a shoot. Thigh highs for plus size thighs are difficult to come by, as they so often roll down. Not these! The owner and creator of Kix’ies have created them to be pretty and fitting. They donate a percentage of each sale to a charity, and 20+ different styles and colours. I was impressed with their range!
