Hello, gorgeous! If you’ve landed on this blog post, then there’s a high chance that you’re a luxury lingerie fan like me. Welcome, darling, you’re in the right place! Pour yourself your favourite drink and get comfy, because without further ado, here is a list of UK based luxury lingerie brands to inspire your next luxury lingerie purchase. From ethically sourced fabrics and hardware, to the finest in silk and lace. From bespoke, made to measure, bridal trousseaus, to the most decadently embellished corset couture. There’s something in this blog post for every lingerie lover.
Who knows, perhaps you might find something to wear for your next boudoir shoot with me?
I will be updating this list periodically as I find more brands to add, so if you have any suggestions for me, please feel free to leave them in the comments section below. Happy shopping!
Angela Friedman
I don’t even know where to begin with luxury lingerie brand Angela Friedman, because honestly, this brand ticks so many boxes for me. Defining themselves as “bridging the gap between an opulent dream world and your everyday lingerie wardrobe”, the company lives and breathes the slow-fashion mantra. Everything is manufactured by hand in England, sourcing their textiles and materials from other local and small businesses, as well as using recycled and recyclable packaging where possible. Founder, Angela, was also actively involved in manufacturing scrubs for the NHS, paramedics and care workers during the pandemic, which makes her an absolute superhuman. The lingerie set shown above on Anne above is a bespoke collaboration between Angela Friedman and Harlow & Fox (who also happens to be listed further down in this blog post).
Bordelle
Bordelle gets a regular mention on this blog, because their aesthetic is one of my favourites in luxury lingerie right now. The brand describes their aesthetic as “characterised by body-con silhouettes and rooted in a proprietary technique that blends 24k gold-plated hardware and customised satin elastic to create iconic pieces featuring a luxury S&M sensuality” – which I couldn’t put more perfectly. Since their launch in Selfridge’s in 2009, I’ve personally collected several pieces over the years, including the Ivory girdle you can see Didi Derriere wearing in the above picture. I’ve also photographed a couple of iconic pieces for The Underpinnings Museum, which you can find here.
Emiah Couture
Calling all magpies! If you like a little bit of sparkle on your luxury lingerie then Emiah Couture is definitely the one for you. There’s a whole story about the first time I laid eyes on Alycia’s beautiful work – which you can find here – but the short version is that I fell head over heels in lust with this dove grey coutil overbust corset above, affectionately referred to as the ‘Pearled Beast’. Featuring approximately 7,000 hand-sewn freshwater and glass pearls, it took over 200 hours to complete. Its dark sister, ‘Weeping Hydra’ is a hand-dyed blue coutil covered in approximately 6,500 hand-sewn freshwater, glass and glittering goldstone pearls and taking over 170 hours to complete. You can see some detail shots of the Weeping Hydra in the Underpinnings exhibition. You’re welcome!
Harlow And Fox
Whenever someone askes me for luxury bridal lingerie recommendations, my go-to answer is always Harlow & Fox. “Using opulent silks, delicate laces and intricate detailing, Harlow & Fox creates effortlessly elegant, beautifully luxurious lingerie and loungewear, designed in Great Britain specifically for fuller bust sizes 30-38 DD-G.” The lingerie set shown on Miss Victory Violet above is the Serena Ivory, which is still currently available on the website. You can also currently find several collaborations with Norwegian based luxury lingerie designer Karolina Laskowska, which are definitely worth checking out.
Miss Vivienne Lingerie
One of my favourite new UK based luxury lingerie brands is Miss Vivienne Lingerie, an independent lingerie designer living in the Scottish Borders who creates beautiful, made to order pieces that are not only inclusive but also ethical with their practices, using elastic, components and printed materials sustainably sourced from either local Border based suppliers or UK stockists to support the other UK small businesses. Even their packaging is 100% recyclable right down to the packing tape. I own the Ginger set and I absolutely love it. I wholeheartedly recommend checking them out.
