What Katie Did’s corsets and lingerie have featured regularly on my blog over the years, from burlesque shoots with Banbury Cross and fashion shoots with Helene Atsuko to a number of cheeky bridal boudoir commissions from some wonderful brides to be (you lucky lucky men!) Not only are their products of exceptional quality, they are a wonderful bunch to work with – so it was a real pleasure to be asked to photograph the launch of their new AW13 collections Dot and Fetique, alongside Miss Miranda’s new 2014 calendar.
Heading down to the shop in Portobello, it was really lovely to catch up with Katie herself, as well as models Sophia St Villier and Hotcake Kitty who I hadn’t seen for a long time. Before the crowds arrived, we assembled all of the models with Katie onto the chaise to take a quick few press shots for the blog and other social media sites, as well as some solo shots of Miss Miranda with her shiny new calendar!
Alongside tea, cakes and a selection of What KAtie Did signature gin cocktails, the event was a great place to network and socialise within. As guests arrived for the start of the show, it was lovely meet the full What Katie Did UK team, including those working away behind the scenes, and get to know them all a little better. Between duties, I managed to get the ladies all together for a quick team photo. What an gorgeous bunch of women they are!
Also on hand for the evening were What Katie Did’s in house press and social media team. Aimee did a fantastic job of live streaming the event throughout the evening through Instagram and Twitter, whilst PR maven Sophia kept the show running smoothly from behind the velvet curtain!
Getting ready for the show backstage was great fun, with lots of giggling and posing for candid camera shots, with Ayesha and Miranda here showing off their catwalk outfits. For those of you who have been to the boutique in Portobello, you’ll know its a pretty small changing area, especially for seven models, two members of staff and a photographer to all fit into! There are also some great #selfies floating around on the model’s own Instagram profiles if you fancied taking a peek.
Just before the start of the show I headed out into the arcade to get a good seat with my camera, sitting next to film maker Anthony Ratcliffe as he documented the evening via video. First out for the evening was Sophia St Villier , who looked stunning in this pale blue contrast set featured in the January section of Miss Miranda’s calendar.
The new collection was a great hit with the audience and plenty of iPhones were out documenting the show from in front of the glass! The show finished with a cheeky striptease from Miranda herself as Miss December in the red and cream contrast set featured earlier.
After the catwalk, Miss Miranda was available to sign calendars, which was a lovely personal touch for her friends and followers. If you’d like to purchase a calendar in time for 2014, you can get your hands on one in store or online via the What Katie Did Website.
