After seeing the blog I wrote for fuller busts back in September, I had a client email me last week after booking a boudoir shoot, wanting to know if there was a list of boudoir-worthy lingerie for the smaller bust. Of course, there was one already in the making! I’m proud to now deliver to you 10 boudoir-worthy lingerie companies catering for the smaller bust.
Kiss Me Deadly; 28-44 A-G
Offering femme fatale inspired lingerie, Kiss Me deadly is a little slice of heaven for a lingerie lover like me. Alongside their own lingerie collection – which includes the amazing, bullet bra inspired, Van Doren that offers non-wired, cup-less support – brands of note also sold on the website include Nearer the Moon (who I featured in my Hallowe’en blog) and Bluebella. Playful Promises; 28-44 A-G
You’ll have seen Playful Promises being listed in the 10 companies that cater for a fuller bust, and they absolutely deserve a mention here for the smaller bust too. Inclusive lingerie for a diverse range of bodies – I love it! The business tagline for Playful Promises is “lingerie which mixes quirky, directional design with all things playful, flirty and even a little bit dirty” – and they definitely live up to that description. Its worth checking out their sister brands Bettie Page Lingerie and Peek and Beau too.
Victoria’s Secret 30-40 AA-E
Looking for something on the high street? Victoria’s Secret offer a wide range of wired and non-wired styles in store, starting from an A cup, – with a handful of AA options available as online only specials – the option to try on in store will give you a feel for different styles and what suits you best. Whilst the Dream Angles Wicked Unlined Uplift Bra is a personal favourite, Victoria’s Secret excel in their collection of bodysuits, teddies, slips, babydoll and bralets. If you’re looking for something other than your average matching set, this is a great place to start your search!
Lala Lu; 30-38 AAA-A
Lala Lu is a US based brand that specialise in small-busted lingerie, catering for AAA to A cup sizes. Specifically creating bras that are made for a smaller bust, they pay particular attention to fit and feel. Their review section is wonderful to read, having clearly empowered a lot of women about their lingerie and how they feel about their bodies.
Bordelle; 30-36 A-D
Bordelle is renowned for their luxury and erotic lingerie, which is bound to have you feeling amazing anytime you wear it! Since launching their bondage inspired girdle dresses in 2009 at Selfridges (London), the brand has expanded to include a signature line and a bridal collection, alongside atelier services including made to measure and bespoke. There is nothing ‘every day’ about Bordelle – and I have a few coveted pieces in my own collection!
The Little Bra Company; 28-38 A-C
Founder and owner Emily Lau wanted to create a bra that fit, was functional and pretty. She found it difficult to find something that fit that was going to provide her with a natural looking shape with contouring to enhance her curves, not just pad out her chest. Well, she’s done it and smashed it out the park! Her whole range is beautiful, simplifying matters by allowing you to filter for non-wired bras, close-set bras and wide-set bras, as well as filtering by the amount of padding you are after. Definitely worth taking a peek.
Ewa Michalak; 28-60 AA-P
If there’s a lingerie brand out there could be considered truly inclusive, my vote is for Ewa Michalak. The sizing for Ewa’s creations takes a little getting used to, but there is plenty of helpful information on the site to help you work out your size. There are also copious numbers of beautiful bras too, in all styles and colours – at time of writing this there are over 140 different styles currently listed on her website.
Love Pillowbook; A-C
After photographing the ‘Empress Noir’ Silk Dudou for The Underpinnings Museum (read more here) I was really excited to see more of their designs and collections. On top of their lookbook styles, I was also excited to find out they offer custom colours and made to measure options, which makes this luxury brand even more special. If you have any bespoke lingerie from them, I would LOVE to see!
Figleaves 28-52 AA-N
Figleaves are well known in the UK as an ambassador of bras. Offering AA- N cups and a wide range of back sizes, new stuff goes up every week and there’s seemingly always a sale on (which is good for my collection and bad for my wallet!). The outlet is really varied too and well worth checking out if you’re looking for boudoir lingerie on a budget.
Having studied haute couture in Rome for three years before going on to specialise in lingerie design in Milan, Cristina Aielli has made waves in the lingerie industry with her incredible, made to measure designs. I first laid eye on her work back in 2015 and to this day its still one of my favourite lingerie sets I’ve ever shot. The ultimate luxury in lingerie, her website is a collection of exquisitely designed bespoke pieces and I want one of everything.
Journelle 28-40 A-N
The name of US based designer brand Journelle is derived from the French word for ‘daily’ – a nod to their belief that wearing lovely lingerie should be an everyday luxury. A belief that I very much share! As well as their own stunning range (I recommend checking out the Romy Demi Bra and the Grace Underwire Bra) they also stock pieces from aforementioned Bluebella and Bordelle, as well as burlesque star Dita Von Teese’s own lingerie line.
Pepper 30-40 AA-B
Well hello gorgeous lingerie for the 36AA and 38AA crew! Creating products for humans with small chests who are usually overlooked by the lingerie community, Pepper offer a range of underwired and non-wired bras and bralettes that are 100% boudoir worthy.
