Hello, gorgeous! Hands up if you’re still using that one good photograph of yourself you’ve been using for the last 3+ years?
You know the one. It’s on all your social media profiles and your dating apps. You’ve even considered whether it would be acceptable as your passport photo…
No judgement here, because that was me a few weeks ago too! My last time in front of the camera was for a self-portrait boudoir session to capture a couple of shots in my new Tutti Rouge Lingerie during the first lockdown in 2020, but really, it was at the end of 2019 just in time for my award-winning book to go to the printers.
My physical appearance has significantly changed during the ‘Covid times’ – even my hair colour – and it has been so tempting to hide behind my camera until I felt like I looked like the same woman in those pixels again. To re-launch myself into this post-pandemic world pretending like nothing had happened and I was this age-defying goddess that had thrived during almost two years of isolation.
But that isn’t my truth. One day, when it feels a bit less raw, I’ll talk about lockdown life in more detail.
But what I can tell you, was that this mindset was holding me back. Not honouring my body – this INCREDIBLE body that helped me survive the best part of two years – was doing me a disservice. It was time to practise what I preach, step in front of the camera and own this magnificent outer shell.
I asked my friend Penny (aka The Plattform) to take some photos of me in two of my favourite dresses in our local lavender field. And these are the beautiful results.
There’s something so magical about stepping in front of a camera. Clothes on or off, all of my clients will tell you the same. It’s a transformative experience that helps you reconnect your soul with your physical form. Now that the two are in alignment with each other again, showing up for myself has been easier than ever before.
Because once I’d committed to this shoot, before it even happened in fact, I had said yes to a portrait shoot and for a national women’s magazine. (I can’t share these images for copyright reasons, but I do have a copy of the magazine!)
And booked a second lavender portrait session with a local photographer. (More on these to come)
Plus two full promo videos for my new Creative Play Days for photographers.
And I may or may not be on set filming something super special right now for the telly (yay for scheduled emails!)
Go big or go home, right?! ✨
So whatever excuse you’ve given yourself for putting off getting in front of the camera, I know how you feel. I AM YOU. I’ve walked in your shoes and I urge you to challenge yourself this week. You’re not too (insert excuse here) to be photographed, you’re a freakin’ masterpiece! You deserve to exist in photographs, gorgeous.
Let me walk some of this journey with you. Book yourself in for a photo shoot with me – let’s honour your body and show you the beauty I see in you.
